Gearing Up For Chinese New Year

Bandar Seri Begawan - With Chinese New Year just around the corner, most shops and supermarkets in the Sultanate are decorated to the nines to attract shoppers. One such eye-catching display is at the NBT showroom in Gadong.

NBT has a reputation of putting up elaborate and beautiful displays each festive celebration, and this year they have chosen traditional symbols of Chinese culture for their extravagant display.

Meanwhile, as celebrations draw closer, many Chinese families can be seen selecting brightly coloured cheongsams to wear during the festivities.

The traditional dress is normally made from red silk and embroidered with gold thread, but nowadays, cheongsams can be found in an array of colours including black, blue, orange and gold. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
