`Maulidur Rasul' In March

Begawan - Brunei Darussalam will celebrate Prophet Muhammad's
(PBUH) birthday anniversary at the end of next month. As in previous
years, the Maulidur Rasul will be held simultaneously at all four
districts on March 31, with the main focus of celebration at the
Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien starting at 7am.
Ministries, government agencies,
mukim and village councils, non-government organisations, schools
and institutions and private sector are called upon to participate
in national level event. Application forms are available at the
Religious Affairs Ministry; the Islamic Studies Department, the
Mosque Affairs Department and the Brunei-Muara District Office.
Shell gives $100,000 for N-Day

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Shell
group yesterday donated $100,000 for the upcoming 23rd. National Day
celebrations.
Managing Director of the Brunei
Shell Marketing Company Sdn Rhd (BSM), Pg JIj Yasmin Pg Mohammad on
behalf of the Shell Group, handed over the cheque to Pehin Orang
Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (Rtd) Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Mohammad Hj
Daud Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports in his capacity as the
Chairman of Sponsorship Committee of the 23rd National Day
celebrations.
The Shell group comprises Brunei
Shell Petroleum Sdn Bhd (BSP), Brunei Shell Tankers Sdn Bhd (BST)
and Brunei Shell Marketing Company Sdn Bhd (BSM).
Chop Teck Guan and Royal Brunei
Airlines Sdn Bhd each contributed $10,000 while DST Communications
Sdn Bhd donated $8,000 for the cause. The Brunei Times has sponsored
500 caps whereas Kingston Beverages gave away 300 cartons of soft
drinks. Ideal Multifeed Farms contributed 20,000 eggs.
The minister said that the
cooperation between relevant government and private sectors would
help fuel patriotic Sentiment among Brunians.
He expressed his utmost gratitude
towards corporate and individual sponsors, who have contributed more
than $170,000 to make this year's celebrations a success.
Apart from cash contributions, the
companies also donated goods and services such as lamp post banners
and festive lights around the sultanate. This year's Sponsorship
Committee will distribute as many as 30,000 mini flags in comparison
with 25,000 mini flags given out last year.
The theme for this year's National
Day is lltizam Memperkasa Keupayaan Bangsa. --
