Best Boys' Wing Recruits Honoured

- Military training for 52 Boys' Wing recruits of the 26th and 27th
intakes, ended yesterday with a passing out parade at the Penanjong
Camp in Tutong. The recruits had undergone 26 months of basic
training.
Defence
Ministry's Director of Intelligence Colonel Ra'emi Maleek Abdul
Wahab, presented awards to the best recruits. Both intakes were
awarded categorically, ranging from Best in M16A2 Rifle to Best in
Physical Training. The `Overall Best Recruit' awards went to Sgt/Muda
Ak Md Shahri Pg Shamsudin and Sgt/Muda Mohd Flarith Edin of the 26th
and 27th intake respectively.
The parade was followed by a
presentation of certificates to the recruits at the Royal Brunei
Armed Forces' Training Institute in Penanjong Garrison.
The Boys' Wing, set up in 1979,
provides a two-and-a-half year training programme for students aged
between 15 and 17 looking for careers as armed forces engineers and
technicians. The School of Studies under the Training Institute of
Royal Brunei Armed Forces is responsible for preparing the boys
wing's for their `O' Levels examination.
It also provides general courses
from basic to advanced level for military personnel through academic
education, language programme and map reading skills.
