Kendo Demo In Brunei Next Month

Begawan - A Kendo demonstration will be held from March 24 to
26 at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium. This event is organised
by Tokyo Darussalam Culture Exchange Association, whose current
Chairman is Yang Amat Mulia Pengiran Setia Negara Pg Dr Hj Mohd
Yussof, in association with the Kendo Federation of Brunei
Darussalam.
The venue is provided by the
Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports while accommodation and
transport will be handled by the Hashimoto Corporation Sdn Bhd with
the cooperation from Travel Trade Agency.
The team will arrive in Brunei on
March 23, led by the 81-year-old professional Mr Watanabe Hiroshi,
with an eight-dan ranking.
The event will also include a
seminar, workshop and tournament. Admission is free for all. The
Japanese team, which hails from Sugmami, one of the 23 districts in
Tokyo, will feature 36 practitioners who are professionals in the
traditional Japanese martial art.
The team is expected to donate 200
pieces of bamboo swords and 200 pieces of body guards for Brunei
Darussalam.
A message from the Mayor of
Suginami, Mr Hiroshi Yamada will also be delivered by the leader of
the visiting Japanese group.
Apart from Brunei participants, the
Brunei Kendo Association has also invited participants from Sabah
