Promoting Brunei At Oz Tourism

Begawan - Seven travel and tourism professionals are in
Melbourne, Australia now for the two-day AsiaPacific Incentives and
Meetings Expo (AIME) 2007.
The delegation comprise two
officials from Brunei Tourism, namely Nordin Ahmad and Faten
Shahrani, as well as Aji Puteh from Royal Brunei Airlines, Alirahim
Haji Abdul Rani from Golden Touch Holidays RBA, Michelle Wong from
The Empire Hotel & Country Club, Anthony Chieng from Sunshine Borneo
Tours & Travel and TC Chun of Good Miles Sdn Bhd.
The objective of attending the
trade fair is to promote the Sultanate as a tourist destination and
also to create awareness on what Brunei can offer.
"We have listed around 26 travel
fairs and exhibitions to attend this year," said Nordin Ahmad,
Special Duties Officer at Brunei Tourism.
With the recruitment of new staff
in Brunei Tourism and by joining force with local tour operators,
the team has become more aggressive in selling Brunei as a tourist
destination, he added.
The event's Director, Ms Rosmarie
Sama, said, "This year's event features close to 850 exhibitors
including 120 first time participants.
"New exhibitors come from far and
wide including the United Arab Emirates, Malaysia, Canada, Vietnam,
Argentina, China, Finland, the United States of America, Korea,
India, France, Singapore, Mauritius, Thailand, Hong Kong, Czech
Republic, Brazil, Russia, Philippines, Turkey, Japan and of course
Australia," she added.
"The buyers are from all around the
globe including the United Kingdom and Europe, the Americas, South
