New Supply Base Jetty For BSP In
Muara
By Yusrin Junaidi
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The new Muara Supply Base Jetty, which measures
120m by 48m and is equipped with three loading facilities and 14
storage tanks, will provide a boost for Brunei Shell Petroleum's
operations.
The new jetty was officially opened
by Minister of Energy in the Prime Minister's Office, Pehin Dato Awg
Hj Yahya.
The new jetty, constructed by a
local contractor and managed by BSP, in joint partnership with
various government stakeholders, is expected to facilitate BSP's
business activities, especially its offshore operations, over the
next 30 years and beyond.
Delivering welcoming remarks at the
opening ceremony was Managing Director of BSP, Dr Grahaeme
Henderson, who said the new jetty "was managed by a
multi-disciplinary project team from BSP and various government
departments, inicuding Petroleum Unit, Ministry of Finance,
Fisheries Department, Marine Department, Ministry of Defence, Royal
Brunei Navy, Port Authority, Royal Brunei Police Force, Fire and
Rescue Department, Department of Environment, Parks and Recreation,
and the Internal Security Department. I would like to further
acknowledge that a senior officer from the Petroleum Unit was
assigned full time to work and contribute towards this project. This
is surely an outstanding example, a
best-practice par excellence, of private sector and the government
working together, hand-in-hand as one cohesive team."
Dr Henderson added that the BSP
project team was made up entirely of, and led by, Bruneian engineers
and technical professionals.
The Minister of Energy signed a
commemorative plaque to mark the opening of the jetty before touring
the jetty and viewing an exhibition held in conjunction with the
opening ceremony. -- Courtesy of Borneo
