Petrol Smuggling Foiled Again In
Temburong

Begawan - Another attempt to smuggle petrol out of the
country was thwarted over the weekend.
The police said a car driven by a
foreign national was stopped for allegedly trying to smuggle 15
litres of regular petrol.
The incident was detected at around
l Oam at the Labu control post in Temburong.
The authorities have foiled several
attempts to smuggle the controlled item out of the country via land
and sea after the suspects were caught modifying their petrol tanks.
In the past three days, the police
also recorded a car break-in and theft where a CD player and a
computer went missing. Another 12 theft cases were reported
including at an ATM machine, Kg Belimbing in Subok, Benutan dam, a
workshop at KM 2 in Gadong, Kg Mulaut, Kg Sungai Lalit in Belait and
Kg Sungai Tali in Lumut.
Items found missing were cash
amounting to $1,800, two DVD players, two power tools, two mobile
phones, golf bag, a bicycle and a roll of hose.
Burglars also broke into houses in
Mumong national housing scheme, Jln Madang, Kg Sg Bakong in Lumut,
Jln Tutong and Lupak Luas. Items stolen were jewellery, water pipe
meter, car washing equipment, two air-conditioning sets, a TV set, a
VCD player, a heater and a kettle.
A fraud case, five assaults
including one serious assault, three vandalism (with one arrest),
four drug cases (with five local men detained) and three immigration
violation cases where four foreign men and a foreign woman were
questioned were also recorded.
10 car collisions, eight
self-accidents and a car and pedestrian accident were recorded,
resulting in one death, one serious injury and four minor injuries. -- Courtesy of Borneo
