New Style Of Tap-Ping Employees' Potential

Bandar Seri Begawan – Get together activities between top management and employees are essential in building and promoting good rapport between the two and help to boost employees' morale, said deputy chairman of the Tabung Amanah Pekerja (Tap).

Rosli Hi Haron said: `Activities for employees are important as it helps boost morale, and it’s a great opportunity to appreciate and recognise the performance and dedication of employees."

Speaking to The Brunei Times at the Sports Festival for Tap's Welfare and Sports Bodies 2006-2007 yesterday, he said that activities in sports could establish communications between members of the various departments under the organisation.

Hj Md Noor Amali Hj Mirhasan, the fund's employee said: "Activities such as these will have tremendous impact on the morale of the staff and where employees from all branches can meet. It is also a venue for us to release work stress and shows that the management cares for us." Twenty-seven-year-old Sri Nazrina Hj Johari, who works for marketing and corporate communication section, said that the interactions with board members on a professional and personnel level through these activities would motivate employees and lift their morale.

"Employees will feel more attached to their workplace," she added.

The Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Dewa Major General (R) Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Mohammad Hj Daud, Chairman of Tap Board of Directors, told The Brunei Times that such activities would help raise the spirit of competition amongst employees, as well as boost their morale.

The minister added: "Work is work, but there should also be time for fun and recreational activities."

The sports festival, the first ever being conducted, kicked off with 10 pin bowling championship. Other activities include badminton, treasure hunt as well as an annual dinner, involving 76 Tap employees and members of the board of directors. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
