4WD Owners On Cross-Country Trip
By Jon Tam poi
Bandar Seri
Begawan - A Group of four-wheel drive owners held a
cross-country run, which began on Saturday and ended yesterday.
The run was in line with supporting
local tourism and presented an opportunity for owners of the
powerful vehicles, which ranged from 2.5 to 4CC, to familiarise
themselves with several routes in the country. Owners are planning a
major event in the future to encourage four-wheel drive sports in
the country.
Drivers consisted mostly of retired
lecturers, army personnel and other professionals along with a
journalist to record the journey. The event aimed to enhance the
marketable quality of Brunei and increase extreme sports tourism in
the country, while assisting remote areas to develop through such
activities.
The trip began in Lamunin and ended
at the long house of Merangking in Ulu Belait. Imam of the long
house and principal of the nearby school, Awg Mohd Shahrin bin Mohd
Halim, welcomed the entourage, who stayed overnight at the community
hall of the long house. -- Courtesy of Borneo
