UNISSA Open Day To Asssit

Begawan - At The Open Day of Universiti Islam Sultan Sharif
Ali (UNISSA) yesterday, its Secretariat body's Chairperson, Dr Hjh
Masnon Ibrahim, stated that applicants would have to undergo a
selection process that will involve written tests and interviews.
They are required to have a Sijil
Tinggi Pelajaran Ugama (high religious education certificate), a GCE
`A' Level qualification or its equivalent, and be no more than 25
years of age.
She added that chosen candidates
will also have to enter English and Arabic language courses for
about three months before the August 2007 session commences.
Around 200 people, including
lecturers and staff members, attended yesterday's event at the
MultiPurpose Hall of Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD). Dr Hjh
Masnon said, "When UNISSA opens, there will be four faculties
offering diploma, first degree and post-graduate degree programmes."
In addition to these, UNISSA is
also going to be equipped with two research centres Pusat Penataran
Ilmu dan Bahasa and Pusat Penyelidikan - Mazhab Shafi'e.
The Open Day's main objective was
to provide interested members of the public with information about
the programmes available as well as entry requirements through a
series of briefings and discussions.
For its first intake session this
Aug, the IPISHOAS building at UBD will be used, as the construction
of UNISSA's main campus nears completion.
UNISSA s vision, apart from
becoming progressive and dynamic International Islamic University.
Based on the teachings of Al-Quran and As-Sunnah, is to produce
Muslim scholars and academics.
It is also going to offer
specialised programmes, such as Islamic Banking and Finance, Human
Resources, Public Policy and Entrepreneurship, among many others.
