Motivational Talk For Parents

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Counselling and Welfare Section of Sekolah Menengah Awang Semaun organised a motivational talk for parents of Form 3 and 5 students yesterday.

The three-hour-long talk, which was held at the school's library, was presented by Cikgu Ali Yusri bin Hj Abdul Ghapor (pic left), an educational officer from the Counselling and Welfare Section, Ministry of Education.

In his talk, he pointed out the important role that parents play in the upbringing of their children, especially in the educational aspect. He touched upon the physical and mental aspects that affect children in the process of growing up.

Cikgu Ali Yusri stressed on the words used around the house, food that is prepared and also the support that parents should practise in the home environment. Reward system should also be implemented so that children would feel appreciated and respected, especially after examination periods.

The talk ended with a doa by Ustaz Norimy followed by a light refreshment for the teachers and parents. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
