Chinese Chamber Of Commerce BSB Hosts Luncheon For Outgoing Envoy

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Chinese Chamber of Commerce BSB yesterday hosted a farewell luncheon for Ms Yang Yanyi, the outgoing ambassador of the People's Republic of China, at the Emperor's Court Restaurant in Manggis Mall.

Ms Yang Yanyi received a token of appreciation from Mr Robert Koh, President of Chinese Chamber of Commerce BSB.

Accompanying Ms Yang Yanyi were Mr Tian Qi, counsellor of the Chinese Embassy, and other officials. Also present were Pehin Dato Paduka Onn Siew Siong and other senior members of the Chinese Chamber of Commerce.

Mr Koh applauded the Chinese ambassador's effort in enhancing and maintaining bilateral relations between Brunei Darussalam and China.

MS Yang Yanyi also touched on the good bilateral relationship between the two countries.

In 2006, trade between the Sultanate and China was US$3.15 billion, which was 21 per cent higher than the previous year, she said, adding that education, cultural, military and people exchanges have also progressed.

The Chinese ambassador also thanked the Chinese Chamber of Commerce BSB for the hospitality and wished the Chinese community a happy new year. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
