Fatal Stop In Wee Hours

Bandar Seri Begawan - A fatal accident involving a local man occurred in the early hours of the morning yesterday, leading police to appeal for eye-witnesses.

According to police, the accident which occurred at the road shoulder of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Highway heading towards Menglait/Gadong happened between 6-lam, when the area was dark as road lamps were switched off and the morning was foggy.

Police identified the victim as a 41 -year-old local male, Haji Hussin bin Hj Mustapa who resided in Kg Setia `A'. In the accident, he was said to be changing his tyre on the rear right and was hit by a pick-up driven by a foreign national male. The man has been detained for further investigation.

The victim died on the spot resulting from severe multiple injuries. The Royal Brunei Police Force has asked for any witnesses to the incident to come forward and assist in investigations by contacting the BSB Police Station at 2242334 or via hotline 993. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
