Telbru Inks Mou With Sacofa
By Lyna Mohamad

Bandar Seri Begawan - Sacofa Sdn Bhd, a state-owned company in Sarawak that has been licensed to provide telecommunications network facilities and multimedia services in East Malaysia, yesterday signed a business collaboration agreement with TelBru to facilitate the joint use of telecommunications network facilities between Brunei Darussalam and East Malaysia.

The agreement will enable Te1Bru to carry Sacofa's telephony, data and Internet traffic from the state of Sarawak through its SeaMeWe3 Submarine Cable System in Tungku.

Sacofa has terrestrial transmission coverage in Sarawak and also a submarine cable connecting Sarawak and West Malaysia.

"The signing of this contract signifies another milestone of achievement in telecommunication services in Brunei Darussalam where both companies will benefit from joint business opportunities in the fields of internet IP transit, voice and data service," said Managing Director of TelBru, Awg Song Kin Koi.

This is in line with TelBru's strategy of developing its business opportunities outside Brunei Darussalam, he added.

The memorandum was formalised in a ceremony held at Te1Bru's headquarters in Berakas. Signing on behalf of TelBru was Awg Song Kin Koi while Sacofa was represented by its CEO, Abang Jemat Abang Bujang.

Te1Bru's General Manager of Corporate Affairs Unit, Dyg Hjh Norliha Hj Abu Bakar, and Chief Operating Officer of Sacofa, Encik Mohd Siril Ansor Mahabon, signed as witnesses. Also attending the signing ceremony were senior officers and managers from TelBru. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
