Tugboat Rams Trawler Off Labuan, One Dead

Kota Kinabalu - The body of a fisherman reported missing after a trawler boat sinking incident in the Brunei Bay waters, near Labuan, was found Thursday afternoon.

The body of Susan Sanusi (male) was found trapped in the boat at about 3pm, according to a statement issued by the operations centre of the Sabah and Labuan maritime region of the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency. It said the body had been handed to the Labuan marine police to be taken to the Labuan Hospital.

In the incident that occurred at 5.30am Thursday morning, the trawler was reportedly hit by a passing tugboat, forcing it to sink. The trawler was carrying five Indonesian fishermen, at the time of the incident. Skipper Syamsul Lauape, 28, Erman Mustapha, 26, Syamsi Yusuf, 25, and Sudirman Dawin, 36, were rescued. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
