Teachers Call' Led On To Improve Themselves

Bandar Seri Begawan - Teachers need to understand thoroughly the subjects they are teaching in order to explain identify and apply their knowledge in a variety of formats.

This was said by Deputy Permanent Secretary (Planning and Policy) at the Ministry of Education Haji Mohd Daud Haji Mahmud during a one-day "Seminar and Exhibition on IT Enhanced Training Systems" held yesterday at Seameo Voctech Regional Centre, Gadong.

The event was jointly organised by Seameo Voctech Regional Centre, Galaxy Group of Companies Malaysia, and Sepakat-Star ICT Trading Sdn Bhd.

Haji Mohd Daud, who was the guest of honour, said teachers need to work closely with their colleagues and research in their free time to better understanding their -chosen fields. He added that according to the Ministry of Education, three strategic themes have been identified: professional, accountable and efficient organisation; quality education and teaching; and learning excellence.

Meanwhile, also in attendance at the seminar were Galaxy Group of Companies chairman and managing director Dato Thomas Khung Fan En and his deputy, Tony Tee Boon Chai as well as director at the event Mohamad bin Abu Bakar and members of the organising committee.

The main objectives of the event were to provide information on new technological tools, equipment and courseware that have been developed by researchers for engineering education and training, and to identify opportunities for training in related fields.-- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
