Fruit Drink Poisons 10 Students

Bandar Seri Begawan - Ten Primary six pupils at a school in the capital were struck with alleged food poisoning after they drank cordial drinks bought from the school canteen.

The students were rushed to RIPAS Hospital in Bandar Seri Begawan for treatment, informed sources said.

According to one of the parents, his son vomited several times after drinking the cordial drink at school. The parent also said a similar incident occurred at the school sometime last year.

The parents also expressed concern about the incident while expressing hopes that the school would take precautionary measures to avoid any recurrences in the future. One of the students said that he felt dizzy for about five minutes after drinking the suspected drink and vomited soon after.

When Borneo Bulletin visited the affected students at RIPAS Hospital, they were seen to be in a stable condition after immediate treatment. Doctors have said that the students will be kept under observation for the time being until they show no further symptoms. They were later discharged. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
