Families Affected By Fire Tragedies Receive Donations

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports' Community Development Department donated about $15,250 to some 13 families involved in recent fire tragedies.

The contribution was presented yesterday by Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports, Pehin Dato Seri Pahlawan Hj Mohammad Hj Daud, at the ministry's building.

It included $8,900 for fire victims, $4,000 for house reconstructions assistance and $2,350 for the Student Sponsorship Assistance Funds (TBTKKS).

Another donation of $2,700 from the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah (SHHB) Foundation was also presented to three other families, who were affected, by recent fire tragedies that occurred at Tanah Kurnia Rakyat Jati Rimba in Gadong and Kg Pak Bidang, Ukong in Belait.

The SHHB contribution was presented by its Board of Directors member, Dato Paduka Hi Junaidi Pehin Dato Paduka Hj Hashim, to representatives and recipients Hj Serudin Salim, Mohd Fauzan Abd Rahman and Hj Pariad Asit @ Asik.

Also present at yesterday's event was the SHHB Foundation's Director of Affairs, Dato Paduka Hj Ali Hashim Hj Daud, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, Hj Jemat Ampal, as well as other senior government officers. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
