Counselling And Guidance Workshop At MTSSR

Bandar Seri Begawan - "As an educator, we cannot only focus on teaching but we also have to understand students, help improve their studies and help solve their problems not only in school but also in homes by providing proper counselling and guidance."

This was stated by Cikgu Pg Suhaimi bin Pg Hj Bakar, the Acting Principal of Sultan Saiful Rijal Technical College in his opening remarks at the Counselling and Guidance Workshop for officers and teachers of MTSSR 2007, yesterday morning.

He also said that the workshop was timely organised and will help to shape students into successful individuals.

Some 30 officers and teachers of Sultan Saif it Rijal Technical College attended the workshop which was facilitated by three experts in Counselling and Guidance namely Hj Haji bin Othman, the Head of Training and Student Motivation Unit of Counselling and Career Guidance Section, Ministry of Education, along with Hj Shahdani bin Hj Asmat and Hajah Kaya @ Rokayah binti Hj Tawe.

Among the topics delivered at the one-day workshop included the definition of counselling and guidance, the theories of counselling, ethical of counselling as well as skills and process of counselling. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
