Brunei Delegates Take Part In 7th
AGBEP Network In Jakarta

Begawan - Three representatives from Universiti Brunei
Darussalam (UBD) took part in the 7`h Annual Meeting of the Asean
Graduate Business/Economic Programme (AGBEP) Network that was held
from January 29 to 31 in Jakarta, Indonesia.
Hosted by the Faculty of Economic,
University of Indonesia, Depok, the AGBEP Network is one of the many
collaborative projects and activities held within Asean and between
Asean and its dialogue partners under the Asean University Network (AUN).
Dr Azman Ahmad, Dean of Faculty of
Business, Economic and Policy Studies and two other senior
lecturers, Dr Hj Zainuddin Hj Jaafar and Dr Habrizah Hussin,
represented UBD.
The mission of the AGBEP Network is
to improve the quality of graduate programmes at these universities
that offer Master Degree programmes in Business and Economics as
well as to promote them in the world of education. AGBEP conducts
several exchange programmes for students, faculty members, and other
resources to achieve its goals and hold annual meeting to discuss
progress.
Three main activities were
discussed during the meeting namely AGBEP Dean's Meeting that was
devoted to discussing progress of AGBEP Network activities and
possibilities of bilateral cooperation among members, AGBEP Academic
Seminar of academic research papers from all members and Business
Games Simulation, a competition among student groups of member
countries to test their business skill, performances and strategy
implementation.
The delegates in the 7th AGBEP
Annual Dean's Meeting were AUN Secretariat and representative Dean
and Directors of Post Graduates programmes from UBD (Brunei
Darussalam), University of Indonesia and University of Gadjah Mada
(Indonesia), University of Malaya and University Sains Malaysia
(Malaysia), National University of Singapore (Singapore), Burapha
University and Chulalangklorn University (Thailand), and De La Salle
University and University of the Philippines (Philippines).
Fourteen research papers in the
areas of accounting, business management, and economics from seven
universities from Brunei, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand and the
Philippines were presented at the Academic Seminar.
Dr Habrizab Hussin's papers
entitled `Liberating the Entrepreneurial Spirit and Creating
Enterprising Culture in Brunei Darussalam: The Challenges Ahead' was
awarded the Best Paper. She was presented with a certificate and
