Restaurant In Sungai Liang Ordered To Shut For Failing Cleanliness Check

Bandar Seri Begawan - The Enforcement Unit of Licensing Section, Belait District Department ordered the closure of a restaurant in Mukim Liang yesterday morning due to unsatisfactory level of cleanliness.

The move was made following an earlier surprise cleanliness inspection carried out by the Enforcement Unit and a report by Belait District Health Department.

The notice of closure was posted at the restaurant's entrance to inform customers that the restaurant is temporarily closed due to unsatisfactory cleanliness and will only resume operations after its level of cleanliness is upgraded to the standard required by both government agencies.

The closure order was made to deter restaurant operators from neglecting their duties in ensuring their employees are hygienic and that food preparation is carried out in a sanitary manner.

The Belait District Department reminded restaurant and shop owners under its jurisdiction to constantly ensure that they practise good hygiene in the interest of the public. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
