Lagoon Skateboard Contest

Begawan - Brunei's skilful skaters gathered at the Lagoon
Skate Park in Kampong Pandan, Kuala Belait on Sunday to compete in
the Lagoon Skateboard Competition.
The competition was jointly
organised by the Youth and Sports Department branch in cooperation
with Angkatan Belia Bersatu Mumong (ABBIM).
Present as the chief guest at the
competition was Operations Manager at Mahkota Maju Sdn Bhd, Awang
Spencer bin Jebat, who also presented prizes to the winners.
Nine male and female skaters showed
their skills consisting mainly of two dimensional manoeuvres, high
jump, long jump and 360-pivot.
The objectives of the competition
were to foster closer relations among skaters in the Belait District
and also to enhance the status of the sport among the youth.
Such events could also prevent
youth from engaging in self-destructive activities such as drug
abuse.
The preliminary round of the
competition started in the morning and the final rounds took place
in the afternoon.
The competition was divided into
two categories, namely beginner and advance.
Special invitations were also
extended to 10 skilled skateboarders from Belait, Brunei Muara and
Tutong districts to enliven the competition further. The competition
