In The Thick Of National Day Preparations

Bandar Seri Begawan - The official venue for the 23rd National Day, Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar Ali Saifuddien, was a hive of activity yesterday as the performers gathered there for the first time to rehearse for the grand event.

The National Day parade is scheduled for February 24.

Schoolchildren flourished brightly coloured fans that would provide some of the most vibrant parts of the performance during the upcoming affair.

During the rehearsals, uniformed groups, government and private sector employees and other participants perfected their moves in the field performances and march past for the big occasion.

Following the postponement of the National Day gathering to February 24, the hoisting of the giant national flag was also moved back from the February 9 to 11.

Similarly, the lowering of the national flag will also be delayed.

Originally scheduled to take place on February 26, the event will instead now take place on the following day. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
