Hotel Staff Complete Fire Fighting Course

Bandar Seri Begawan - "Learning fire fighting skills can save lives". This was stated by Ak Amiruddin Pg Hj Hashim, a staff of Jubilee Hotel who was one of the certificate recipients in the course for Fire and Rescue volunteer scheme, first phase, for hotels and apartments located at the areas of Operation 'A, BSB Fire Station.

AkAmiruddin, along with two other colleagues - Muhamad Naj ib Abdullah and Junaidi Abd Rahim - from the hotel who participated in the course said that they had learned invaluable lessons on identifying the types of fire.

"We hope that we can play our part to assist fire fighters in any cases of emergencies to save life and property," they said.

They were among the 50 staff from Jubilee Hotel - who was present to receive their certificates upon completion of the course on Fire and Rescue volunteer scheme, first phase, for hotels and apartments at the Rizqun International Hotel, yesterday afternoon.

The guest of honour who presented the certificates to the recipients was Pehin Orang Kaya Ratna Setia Dato Paduka Hj Awang Abd Hapidz bin POK Laksamana Hj Awang Abd Razak, the Chairman and Managing Director of Abd Razak Holdings.

Commanding Officer of Operation `A', Awang Hj Ahmad bin Hj Mohd Daud, in his opening remarks congratulated the participants on completing the course.

He said the Fire and Rescue volunteer scheme course was aimed at raising the awareness on the dangers of fire, its effects and consequences as well as to educate the participants on minimising the risk of fire at hotels and apartments.

Awang Hj Ahmad bin Hj Mohd Daud also said that by equipping course participants with in-depth understanding of fire fighting techniques, it is hoped that the fire and rescue volunteers will know how to react in cases of emergencies.

In another speech by the guest of honour, he underscored the importance for hotel staff to be knowledgeable in providing first aid assistance in any emergencies. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
