Local Fined $600 Over Illegal Possession Of Beer

Bandar Seri Begawan - A 37-year-old local was ordered to pay a fine of $600 or serve a month's jail in default after he pleaded guilty to illegal possession of alcoholic beverages before the Bandar Magistrate's Court yesterday.

Al-Ahmad Haji Yayha's rented house in Kampong Perpindahan Lambak was raided by personnel from the Narcotics Control Bureau recently.

He was handed over to the Customs Preventive Section when the personnel found 72 cans and eight bottles of beer at the premises without permit. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
