Bandar Seri
Begawan - The three-day 'Hikmah Bersatu II' exercise was
launched yesterday by Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF),
Pehin Dam Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi bin
Hj Md Yussof.
Present at the launching ceremony
held at Hangar B of the Rimba Air Force Base in Gadong were Service
Commanders and Commandants, Military Directors, Directors and
representatives of government departments involved in the exercise,
as well as RBAF personnel.
Hikmat
Bersatu II, the second of its kind held by RBAF since 2004, tests
the various elements of the RBAF in collaboration with government
agencies in handling the Humanitarian Aid and Disaster Relief (HADR)
Operations.
The exercise aims to test RBAF's
preparedness to respond, its interoperability with government
agencies and its capability to provide support to relevant agencies
in a disaster relief situation.
Meanwhile, the scenarios that are
used in this exercise are based on a simulation of the unpredictable
and demanding conditions associated with disaster relief operations.
Government agencies such as the
Royal Brunei Police Force, the Fire and Rescue Department, the
Medical Services Department, the Forestry Department, Community
Development Department, the Temburong District Office and the
National Disaster Relief Centre are taking part in the exercise with
the RBAF units. -- Courtesy of Borneo
