Takaful BIBD Posts $1.4 Million In Profit

Bandar Seri Begawan - Takaful Bibd Sdn Bhd has recorded a net profit (before tax) of B$1.4 million for the financial year of 2006, which is a whopping 47 per cent increase compared to 2005. The Managing Director of Takaful BIBD, Awg Hj Muhammad Syaipuddin bin Hj Abdullah, disclosed the figures at a Charity Carnival yesterday aimed at raising funds for fire victims, to raise awareness of the public on the dangers of fire and how to handle potential risks through Takaful BIBD's range of products.

The Charity Carnival held at the open space near Rimba Secondary School, was launched by Chairman of Takaful, BIBD Sdn Bhd and Bank Islam Brunei Darussalam Berhad, Pehin Dato Awg Hj Abdullah bin Begawan Mudim Dato Paduka Hj Bakar, who is also the Minister of Development.

Also present was Deputy Chairman of the BIBD Sdn Bhd, Pehin Major General (Retired) Dato Hj Awg Mohammad bin Hj Daud, also the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports.

Awg Hj Muhammad Syaipuddin also said that based on statistics, 89 accidental fire cases in 2005 cost B$8,315,580 while 60 fire cases recorded in 2006 led to loss of B$2,574,650. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
