Monitored
By Shafiyi Azahari
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Close cooperation between the Syariah Affairs
Department and other government agencies in the country has thwarted
infiltration of deviant teachings into the country. Head of Akidah
Control Division Ustazah Zakiah Taib said, "The division cooperates
with law enforcement authorities in the country such as the Internal
Security Department, Immigration and National Registration
Department, police and the Islamic Dakwah Centre to make sure that
deviant teachings of any kind could not penetrate into the country."
She also mentioned a number of
measures taken up by the Ministry of Religious Affairs to prevent
deviant teachings from secretly influencing the lives and minds of
the Muslims, one of which was through exchange of information with
neighbouring countries.
"We also share information on
deviant teachings between member countries of the Brunei Darussalam,
Indonesia, Malaysia and Singapore Religious Ministers Association (Mabims),"
Ustazah Zakiah said.
Other methods she said were through
continuous monitoring of any group or individuals who were using the
religion to hold activities or gatherings and through censorship of
publications that are suspected to cause confusion among the
Muslims. -- Courtesy of
