Minister Visits Flood-Stricker School

Bandar Seri Begawan - Minister of Education Pehin Dato Awang Haji Abdul Rahman yesterday paid a visit to schools in the Temburong District that had been affected by recent floods.

Accompanying the minister to Bokok and Senukoh primary schools were the permanent secretary, the deputy permanent secretary and other senior officials of the Ministry of Education.

Among the objectives of the visit were to take a closer look at the schools and to ensure that appropriate steps have been taken by the schools and relevant authorities in repairing the damages caused by the floods. The ministry was also concerned for the safety of the students, though the main priority was to ensure they have been receiving education despite the recent disaster.

As precautionary measures, the Ministry of Education had prepared several action plans for schools in case floods hit the district again.

The minister also took the opportunity to visit Sultan Hassan Primary School, Piasau-Piasau Primary School, Labu Estate Primary School, and Sultan Hassan Secondary School, during which he assessed academic achievements of the students, the administration offices and day-to-day activities of the schools.

Yesterday's visit was the second one made by the minister' in the Temburong District. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
