Jawi Writing Workshop Held

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Jawi writing workshop organised by the Language and Literature Bureau at the Dewan Sermayuda of the bureau building in Berakas came to a close yesterday. The workshop was attended by officers from the Language and Literature Bureau.

A similar workshop will be held for officers from government departments including the History Centre, Radio Television Brunei, Museums Department, Islamic Dakwah Centre, Information Department, Land Transport Department and the Curriculum Development Department at the Ministry of Education. The aim of these workshops is to present information on the Jawi lettering system, terminology in spelling, execution of the writing of Jawi as well as discussion on new rules and uniformity of Jawi spelling in line with the Za'ba.

The participants of both workshops will receive their certificates on February 10. Encik Abdul Jalil bin.Hj Anuar, a specialist in Jawi writing from Malaysia, conducted the workshops. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
