UBD A Training Ound For Leaders
By Za'im Zaini

Bandar Seri Begawan - There is ready recognition for a good leader as every individual has his own special ability, talent and righteousness in line with his personal development.

This was stated by Dato Paduka Dr Haji Ismail bin Hj Duraman, Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Brunei Darussalam, who was guest of honour at the handing-over of duty and appointments of members to the student council and peer guidance group or 'Pembimbing Rakan Sebaya' 2007/08 ceremony.

The vice-chancellor added, "At the level of this college, it is to identify themselves and their needs to be capitalised for the development of oneself to a more positive level.

"In short, although the task that will be shouldered is heavy and challenging, but through an organised and systematic approach, projects can be implemented effectively. At the same time, shouldering such responsibilities as a leader is a training ground to be bold and able to become a leader for society in the future".

"In whatever situation, the importance of studying is number one, and should not be neglected."

After his speech, the guest of honour handed over certificates and badges to Pre-U1 Students Council, Student Council/Peer Guidance Group of MA4, Student Council Pre-Ul 06/07 Session, Student Council and Peer Guidance Group 06/07 Session.

He was later presented with a souvenir.

The function continued with a ceremony of handing-over of tasks to the Student Council Session 2007/08, students taking the oath, speeches from the head students of both 06/07 and 07/08 sessions as well as an audio visual presentation.
