Retracing With Walk
By Hussin HJ
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Some 500 students and teachers from the Brunei
Islamic College participated in a 5km walk yesterday to re-live the
journey made by the Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) from Mecca to Medina
1,428 years ago to unify the 'Muhajirins' and 'Ansaris' and lay the
foundation for a single brotherhood of Muslims.
To this day, the Hijrah has become
a reminder for all Muslims of the need for courage to move forward
in the pursuit for success.
The walk was led by the Head
Religious Officer of the Tutong District, Hj Mat Zain Hj Muntol.
Alongside him were the deputy principle of the college, Ustaz Hj
Harridan Omar, and other members of the event's organising
committee.
The Hijrah experience came to life
as each of the participants put his best foot forward in the spirit
of unity and faith.
The walk was flagged off at the
college compound and finished further down the road at the Hassanal
Bolkiah Mosque.
At the mosque, a thanksgiving
prayer was performed to mark the New Year Hijrah 1428. The
participants later continued their journeybackto the college. -- Courtesy of Borneo
