`Superstars' At HSBC Annual Dinner

Begawan - HSBC management and staff turned "Superstars" for
the night at a theme party organised last weekend by the bank's
Sports and Social Club. The annual dinner party was held at the
Empire Hotel and Country Club in Jerudong.
Themed "Superstar", staff members
made a huge effort to dress the part. Elvis Presley, Alexis
Carrington from popular soap opera Dynasty, Jim Carey and Boy George
were among the "superstars" spotted at the event.
The evening started with a
welcoming speech by Chief Executive Officer, Guy Priestley who
thanked all the staff for their hard work, teamwork, dedication and
commendable results in 2006.
He announced a surprise award for
employees - ASPIRE Ambassadors. ASPIRE is an internal programme
which encourages staff to build the values
Ambitious, Simple, Preferred,
Innovative, Responsible and Exciting into their daily work and
lives.
The high point of the evening was
the final round of Superstar Idol, a singing contest open to all
employees. The first round and semifinals of the competition were
held earlier: 17 singers were eliminated and five made it to the
finals.
Nurul Jafriah from Seri Branch
emerged as champion with her rendition of 'Terlalu Istimewa' and 'Lelaki
Buaya Darat'. She won a trip to Kuala Lumpur with B$1,000 cash.
Later, Mr-Priestley presented 25
recipients with long service awards. Among the recipients were
Deputy Chief Executive Officer, Rosdi Amin Yaakub, who marks his
10`h year, and Manager Personal Financial Services Sales and
Support, Dayangku Hamidah Pengiran Haji Othman who celebrates 20
