Imams Decry Karaoke Revellers
By Azlan Othman
Bandar Seri
Begawan - Imams stressed on the need to respect one's
neighbours by not disturbing them with ear-splitting noise like
singing karaoke at top volume and playing musical instruments loudly
during a gathering or wedding festivities.
In the Friday sermon delivered
yesterday, the religious authorities reminded Muslim Ummah not to
offend others, be it verbally, in act or attitude. This could be
practised in the same way as not polluting one's surrounding with a
stink.
The Imams said Islam has stressed
on the importance for its Ummah to uphold good relations with one's
neighbours and this must be given a priority.
However nowadays, the spirit of
living in a neighbourhood is far from being practised as was
practised by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh). "Sometimes we do not even know
who our neighbours are. We should interact, greet, respect and help
when they are in need," the religious leaders urged. -- Courtesy of Borneo
