By James Kon
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Royal Thai Police Football Team flew in to
Brunei Darussalam yesterday for two friendly matches against Brunei
DPMM FC at the Jerudong Mini Stadium at 4pm today and at the
Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium on Saturday at 8pm. The Thai cops
are the current Division One champions and have been promoted to the
Thai Premier League this year.
Brunei DPMM FC having played out
two disappointing 1-1 draws against the Korea Police Agency FC last
week in two friendlies will be looking for a win to boost their
morale before resuming their Malaysian Super League campaign against
Negri Sembilan Naza on Feb 14 at home.
Both new imports of Brunei DPMM FC,
Alejandro Andres Tobar and Atilio Asuncion Cacerez will be hoping to
impress the crowd while coach Ranko will be keen to test all his
players.
This is the second time Brunei DPMM
FC are facing the Royal Thai Police Football Team. Last year, they
both drew 1-1 in Thailand.
When met at the airport yesterday
on arrival, team manager Pol Maj Gen Pisan Chuldilok said: "We have
just been promoted to the Thai Premier League after we became the
champion of Division One last year."
The Thais boast of a strong defence
and their dangerman is Ying Yong Thansopha, a centre-forward who is
skilful and fast.
The team manager said the
friendlies will be useful for his team to prepare for the Thailand
Premier League season which will start on March 17.
Meanwhile, entrance to both games
are free of charge. -- Courtesy of Borneo
