Lao Pm Visits BLNG

Bandar Seri Begawan - Lao PDR Prime Minister Bouasone Bouphavanh yesterday visited the Brunei Liquefied Natural Gas (BLNG) plant in Belait District.

During the visit, BLNG managing director Fred Smeenk briefed the Lao premier on the objectives of the establishment of the company and its strategies in promoting and maintaining good relations with customers.

Smeenk spoke of the company's achievement since it was first established in 1972, BLNG was the first among Shell's LNG facilities in the world to receive ISO 9001: 2000 series certification, demonstrating its commitment to customers and stakeholders in its mission to become a reputable liquefied natural gas supplier and maximising the value of its assets and resources.

The Lao premier was accompanied by Minister of Health Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Hj Suyoi Hj Osman.

On Wednesday the premier visited the Royal Regalia Museum and Rimba 1 Primary School to have a closer look at the country's educational system. Brunei Darussalam and Laos established diplomatic relations on July 27, 1993 and the former set up its embassy in Vientiane in February 1997. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
