Foreigner In Bribery

Bandar Seri Begawan - A Singaporean was charged for corruption after offering bribe money of $500 to the Maintenance Unit of the Department Of Electrical Services in Pusar Ulak.

Dong Sui Hung was brought before the Magistrate Court in Bandar Seri Begawan and charged with an offence under Section 6 (b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act (Chapter 131).

According to the court, Dong attempted to bribe a department officer to expedite the department's payment of $28,870 to Syarikat Kejuruteraan Indah, Dong's employer.

The Singaporean national will be released on bail of $5,000 or two local sureties. The deputy public prosecutor also applied for the defendant's passport to be impounded.

The case will be mentioned again at 2pm, February 8. No pleas were taken. -- Courtesy of The Brunei Times
