14 Ores N Workers Netted In Ops

Begawan - Fourteen foreign nationals were netted on Wednesday
night in an operation conducted by the Law Enforcement Section,
Department of immigration and National Registration, dubbed 'Ops
Bongkar 12'.
The operation which lasted from
10.30pm to 3am, involved 23 personnel led by a senior chief
Immigration officer. The targeted locations were rented houses and
rooms in Kg Terunjing Lambak, Jalan Kebangsaan Lama, Kg Delima Sam,
Kg Delima Dua, Kg Manggis 1 and a house under construction in Kg
Sungai Hanching.
During the raid, six special passes
and one summon letter were issued. The 14 foreign nationals
comprising three female Filipinos and one female Indonesian were
detained temporarily at the BSB Police Station and 10 male foreign
nationals including five Indonesians, two Bangladeshis and two
Filipinos were temporarily detained at the law enforcement office's
detention room.
A 47-year-old Filipina was found
with an Immigration pass that had expired on September 3, 2006. The
Immigration chops on her passport were found to be dubious and
officials suspected that all 19 Immigration chops were forged, not
including the 18 Immigration chops of a neighbouring country that
were also found to be dubious in nature.
She was caught during an inspection
at a rented house in Kg Delima Dua, Berakas.
According to her, she handed her
passport to a female agent and every dealing cost her $50. She was
detained at the BSB Police Station.
Another 35-year-old Filipina was
found with an Immigration pass which had expired on January 21,
2007.
The Immigration chops on her
passport were also found to be dubious• and it was believed that two
of the Immigration chops on her passport were forged, not including
two Immigration chops of a neighbouring country that looked
suspicious.
She was caught during an inspection
at a rented room in Jalan Kebangsaan Lama.
According to her, her passport was
being kept by the owner of the rented room and the owner managed her
passport dealings. The owner of the rented room will be investigated
and if found guilty, a summon letter will be issued to the owner of
the rented room.
A 47-year-old Indonesian man with
an expired photocopied passport was also caught during an inspection
at a rented room in Jalan Kebangsaan Lama. His work pass had lapsed
25 days ago and he was compounded with a fine of B$200. -- Courtesy of Borneo
