Ways To Outsmart Competitors
By Sonia K

Bandar Seri Begawan - Kbridges International and The MindShifts Group will be introducing an exciting programme for the first time in Brunei Darussalam at The Empire Hotel and Country Club on April 3 and 4, 2007.

Entitled Competitive Intelligence - The Art of Analysis, the two-day workshop will allow participants to gain a handson understanding into the area of Competitive Intelligence (CI). The topics will provide a holistic overview of CI and will include case studies, exercises and analytical tools that will guide- everyone in effectively developing and using CI within the organisation. .

The workshop will provide new insights into areas such as strategic planning, marketing activities and minimising decision risk to both government and private sector.

CI is concerned with the ethical and legal methods companies used to monitor their competitors, identify growth opportunities, understand their own competitive position and improve their performance. It helps organisations to sustain their competitive advantage by providing actionable and reliable input to decision makers at operational, tactical or strategic levels.

Through the CI process, executives can identify and project strategies that current or future competitors might pursue and provide a predictive, future oriented assessment of potential implications on the business. The purpose of CI is to outmanoeuvre, outwit and outsmart competitors.

By attending the CI programmes, participants will understand the range of analysis techniques available, identify the right analysis tool for the right situation, discover how to avoid common mistakes made in regard to information analysis, to develop a systematic approach to analysis methodology, to drive higher targets in terms of the competitive understanding of the information they process, to deliver confident and detailed reports on the participants' competitors' profile based on proven analysis skills as well as to learn from actual case studies, the pitfalls and issues in Cl analysis.

The workshop will be facilitated by Babette Bensoussan who is the Managing Director of The Mind Shifts Group, a boutique consultancy that specialises in Competitive Intelligence, strategic planning and strategic marketing projects in the Australasian region.

As a result of the programme, companies will not only have a workable and usable framework but will be able to position their business unit in such a way to maximise its future growth opportunities. Further, this will ensure that all parties are completely aware of the actions necessary for the next stage, which is implementation.

The programme is designed for both private and public sectors and is recommended for CEO, managing director, vice presidents, directors, government officials, and managers.
