Singapore National Charged With Graft

Seri Begawan - A Singaporean national, Dong Sui Hung, was brought before the Magistrate's Court in Bandar Seri Begawan and charged with an offence under Section 6 (b) of the Prevention of Corruption Act (Chapter 131).

In a statement issued by the Anti Corruption Bureau yesterday, Dong Sui Hung was charged with corruptly offering a gratification of $500 to an officer at the Maintenance Unit of the Department of Electrical Services in Pusar Ulak on March 11, 2006 as an inducement to expedite the $28,870 claim made by Syarikat Kejuruteraan Indah for a contract work completed by the company for the Electrical Department.

No plea was taken.

The court released him on bail of $5,000 or two local sureties. The Deputy Public Prosecutor also applied for the dependent's passport to be impounded.

The case will be mentioned again on Feb 8 at 2pm. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
