SEACEN Delegates Visit Mosque

Begawan - Twenty Three delegates from the Central Banks and
Monetary Authorities Asia Pacific Region (SEACEN) visited the Sultan
Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque yesterday in Bandar Seri Begawan.
The delegates comprised deputy
governors, directors and senior officers.
The SEACEN members comprise the
National Bank of Canada, Reserve Bank of Fiji, Bank Indonesia, Bank
of Korea, Bank Negara Malaysia, Central Bank of Myanmar, Nepal
Rastra Bank, Bank of Pupua New Guinea, Banko Central ng Philipines,
Monetary Authority of Singapore, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, the
Central Bank of China, Taipei, Bank of Thailand, State Bank of
Vietnam and other financial bodies.
The delegates attended the 511
SEACEN Executive Committee (SEACEN EXCO) yesterday and the World
Bank Treasury For urn on Central Bank Reserves Management on January
30.
This year, the Ministry of Finance
hosted the two meetings.
The delegates were briefed on the
history of the mosque including its role in developing "Syair Islam"
in Brunei Darussalam.
The briefing was given by Malai
Norain Binte Sheikh Mohammad, Public Relations Officer, and Ministry
of Religious Affairs.
Also present to welcome the
delegation were Awang Hj Ahmad Bin Hj Mohin, Acting Assistant
Director of Mosque Affairs, as well as senior officers from the
