BSP Briefs Teachers On Its
Scholarship

Begawan - Sixty secondary school teachers nationwide were
yesterday briefed on BSP scholarship selection process and career
opportunities at Brunei Shell Petroleum and Brunei LNG during a
one-day talk at Panaga Club, Belait District.
Organised by BSP Student Affairs
Section of the Human Resources Planning and Development, the event
was also attended by Acting Deputy Director of the Scholarship Unit
at the Ministry of Education Awang Haji Kassim bin Haji Ibrahim as
the guest of honour. The talk began with a welcoming speech by BSP
Strategic Planning and Citizen Management Development head Hjh
Rosnani Taha during which she noted that there are 93 BSP
scholarship students currently pursuing their studies at the
Institute of Technology Brunei as well as colleges in countries such
as Australia, Malaysia and the United Kingdom.
She also said the briefing served
as a good platform for career teachers and officials from BSP's
Student Affairs Section to discuss issues related to BSP scholarship
and recruitment process.
Later, a presentation was delivered
by officials from BSP's Scholarship Division.
In order to secure a BSP
scholarship, eligible students must obtain three relevant `A' level
subjects with grades BCC and above as well, as five credits in the
`O' level examinations including subjects such as Malay language,
mathematics and English language.
On top of accepting a course
offered by BSP, each, student must also secure an unconditional
admission from a university or college and pass an interview
conducted by the Ministry of Education. -- Courtesy of Borneo
