FBEPS faculty to look out for at
UBD Open Day
By Sonia K.
The Faculty of Business, Economics
and Policy Studies (FBEPS) will once again participate in the UBD (Universiti
Brunei Darussalam) Open Day to be held on February 11 and 12 at the
Chancellor Hall.
As in previous years, the Open Day
aims to give applicants an opportunity to interact with UBD's academic
staff and students on its offered courses and facilities. FBEPS is one
of the most popular faculties at the university.
It has a mission to be recognised
internationally as a centre of higher learning and disseminate
knowledge in the fields of economics, business and management, as well
as public policy and administration, with special reference to the
needs of Brunei and the Southeast Asian region.
Over the years, FBEPS has managed to
produce graduates of high calibre, many of whom are currently holding
good positions in both the public and private sector, and intend to
continue doing so by constantly assembling its academic programmes.
The three departments - Department of
Business and Management, Department of Economics, Department of Public
Policy and Administration - under the faculty offer both undergraduate
and post-graduate courses.
There are also opportunities for
specialisations under each programme as well as prospects in its
minors. All undergraduate programmes run for four years, with high
achievers getting an option to participate in the overseas Study
Abroad programme.
At the postgraduate level, the
faculty offers Masters in Business Administration, Masters in
Economics (both by research and coursework), Masters in Public Policy,
as well as Masters in Health Policy and Management.
FBEPS
also coordinates a cross-disciplinary programme, the Masters in
Environmental Management. Options of full-time and part-time are
available for the postgraduate programmes and the faculty is also open
to doctoral applicants.
The academic staff of FBEPS will be
present at the Chancellor Hall on both days over the weekend to answer
any queries and advise on programmes, entrance requirements and other
relevant information.
The friendly students from FBEPS will
also be there to share their opinions and experiences from their
perspectives.
There are also going to be talks on
each department from the respective heads between 11am and 12pm on
Saturday in Basement Room Two.
Applicants will receive giveaways
from main sponsor HSBC. FBEPS will also hold a one-hour tour and games
at 2pm Saturday, limited to 50 visitors (on a first-come, first serve
basis by registration at the booth beforehand), followed by tea with
administrators, catered and sponsored by Syarikat Rohee dan Anak-Anak.
The first 50 students to register are
also going to receive gifts sponsored by The Natural Source, Rozai
Tailoring and Quality Minds Consultancy Services. FBEPS extends its
gratitude to all the sponsors for their support.
