Taps Run Dry In Belait
By Liza Mohd
Kuala Belait -
Residents in Belait District have been without water' supply
since Monday night. The Belait Public Works Department said the
24-hour disruption was due to faulty electrical power cable in Badas
that affected the transformer.
The damage was also confirmed by the
Belait Electrical Department.
An official from the Belait Public
Works Department told the Borneo Bulletin that they are working
closely with the Electrical Department in resolving the problem and
repair works were scheduled to be completed by 5pm yesterday.
The water supply was expected to
resume last night. The water supply had affected all areas in the
district except Mukim Labi, which has its own water treatment plant.
Some residents were seen collecting
water at the storage tank in Kuala Belait, RTB reported.
Four water tankers were brought in
from the capital. A number of government agencies, including Brunei
Shell Petroleum, lent a helping hand in the distribution of water.
