Charity Art Sale At Yayasan

Bandar Seri Begawan - Paintings and other artworks by local and foreign artists are currently on display for a charity art sale and exhibition at the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah.

The charity art sale and exhibition which is organised by the Brunei Artists Association, aims to collect funds for the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tsunami Disaster Fund for victims of the recent tsunami that devastated the region.

The official launching of the event was held yesterday. Present as the guest of honour was the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Yayasan Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, Pehin Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Othman.

The President of the Brunei Artists Association, Dato Paduka Haji Abd Jalil bin Abd Rahman, delivered a welcoming address.

The event entitled `Heart to Heart' also saw a poetry declamation on the tsunami disaster while several artists presented expressive paintings.

Before touring the exhibition, a special art piece by Awg Zakaria bin Omar was presented to the guest of honour by Dato Paduka Haji Abd Jalil as a token of appreciation.

The exhibition, which is held at the ground floor of Yayasan, provides art enthusiasts the opportunity to observe fine art exhibits and purchase them for a good cause.

All proceeds collected during the period of the event from the February 27 until March 6 will be donated to the Yayasan SHHB Tsunami Disaster Fund. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
