Chew's Mindscape Art Debuts At Alliance Francaise
By Izam S. Ya'akub

Bandar Seri Begawan - On Friday night, the Mindscape Art Exhibit was launched with a strong reception with the Alliance Francaise playing hosts to a packed house of invited guests, from the foreign diplomatic missions in Brunei to members of the art community.

The exhibit, which will continue until March 18, showcases the work of Chew Lian Im.

This is her first abstract art exhibition, with artworks showcasing a variety of patterns that have been inspired from the geometric designs found in Taoism and Asian textiles much like the traditional woven cloth found here in the Sultanate and that of our neighbouring regions.

Chew praised Marion Lamy, the Director of Alliance Francaise, Brunei, and the staff at the alliance for their kind support of the exhibition.

She also added that Alliance Francaise continues to become an important venue for the promotion of visual art in Brunei Darussalam.

The exhibition is Alliance Francaise's second attempt at hosting an art exhibition, with the first being the FACES exhibition late last month.

Art continues to enjoy growing recognition in Brunei, with further art shows and exhibits intended in the near future. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
