Crown Prince Visits Mukim Rambai

District - His Royal Highness the Crown Prince Pg Muda Hj Al-Muhtadee
Billah yesterday made a working visit to several primary schools, a
health clinic, a fire station and Tasek Merimbun Heritage Park in
Mukim Rambai of the Tutong District.
Arriving by helicopter, His Royal
Highness was greeted upon arrival by Pehin Dato Hj Isa, Special
Advisor to His Majesty and the Minister of Home Affairs; Pehin Dato
Paduka Hj Adanan, Deputy Minister of Home Affairs; Pehin Dato Paduka
Hj Suyoi, Deputy Minister of Education; Dato Seri Setia Hj Yusoff,
Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Home Affairs; Dato Paduka
Shiekh Adanan, Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education;
and,s Pehin Dato Paduka Hi Dani, Permanent Secretary at the Prime
Minister's Office.
Also present was Wardi Hj Mohd Ali,
the Acting Tutong District Officer.
The Crown Prince's first stop was
Rambai Primary School. HRH was first given a briefing on Mukim
Rambai by Khairul Nurul Arsyad Hj Abd Malek, its Penghulu.
Shortly after, His Royal Highness
toured Rambai Primary School, which serves students from Kg Rambai:
Kg Kuala Ungar and Merimbun.
It was officially opened on March
26, 1956 and now has seven classrooms.
It currently has a total of 63
students and 18 teaching staff members. HRH visited several classes
and was accompanied by Cikgu Jalan Ramai¸ Headmaster.
The Crown Prince then visited the
Kg Rambai Health Clinic located nearby. It has been in operation
since February 1993.
Here, HRH toured the facilities,
especially those concerning its activities to care for pregnant
mothers, newborn babies and children.
The Crown Prince then made a
stopover at the house belonging to its Village Head.Muhammad Jamin
Arwan, where a small exhibition by the villagers was viewed.
He also mingled with the people
here before proceeding to visit a house belonging to Muslim convert
Dyg Nursuryani Abdullah Manja, which was provided with government
assistance through Islamic Dakwah Centre, Ministry of Religious
Affairs.
Another academic institution
visited by the Crown Prince was Benutan Primary School.
It was first established in 1962
and the new building, which is currently used, was officially opened
in April 1997.
Now the school has 45 students from
Kg Benutan, Kg Belaban, Kg Sengkuang, Kg Keranching and Kg Pelajau,
offering a teaching staff of 16 people.
HRH then visited the house
belonging to the Penghulu of Mukim Rambai, Khairul Nurul Arsyad Hj
Abd Malek. A mini-exhibition on some traditional handicrafts and
also dances by the local indigenous group was also held at the home.
The Crown Prince later visited a
padi plantation belonging to Hj Abd Razak Abdullah Sidai in Kg
Keranching of Benutan.
The types of padi grown here are
the 'pusu', 'berio' and also 'pulut'.
HRH was briefed on the
rice-planting activities that also aimed at providing the residents
with job opportunities and more importantly, help the nation achieve
self-sufficiency in local production.
The Agricultural Department had
also assisted by providing subsidies in the form of pesticides,
advice on proper farming methods and also by providing other
agricultural machinery.
HRH next proceeded to Kg Benutan
Mosque to view an exhibit of its Takmir activities. The Crown Prince
also witnessed a Dusun youth's conversion to Islam before performing
Zuhur prayers.
By midday, the Crown Prince went to
Balai Purun in Kg Merimbun for a mingling and luncheon with Senior
Government Officers, members of the Mukim and Village Consultative
Councils, as well as residents and teachers.
HRH's itinerary in the afternoon
also includes a visit to the Tasek Merimbum Heritage Park, its
laboratory block and research facilities. From Tasek, HRH stopped at
the Lamunin Fire Station and viewed static and skills demonstrations
from its personnel.
The final stop in HRH's working
visit was the B$42 million Benutan Dam complex, where a project
officer briefed the Crown Prince on its roles and functions.
The Crown Prince's visit to Mukim
Rambai showed HRH's concern in observing the socio-economic
development of the country's citizens and residents whilst taking a
closer look at the various infrastructures provided by His Majesty's
Government to enhance their livelihood.
The working visit could also be
viewed as a catalyst for other relevant parties to uphold the
nation's aspirations by performing their duties responsibly with
commitment, dedication and efficiency. --
