Postal Services Campaigns For
Correct Way To Address Mail
By Izam S. Ya'akub
Bandar Seri
Begawan - The Postal Services Department held a briefing
yesterday at the Ministry of Communications as part of its ongoing
`Correct Mailing Address' campaign for government ministries and
departments within the Brunei-Muara district.
The briefing for the civil servants
was given by Hamir bin Mohd Salleh, Assistant Post Master General
(Operational).
It focused on the Postal Services
Department's initiative to raise the percentage of successful
deliveries of mail and to shorten the time taken to deliver the
mail.
To achieve this goal, the
department, highlights the theme "Bantu Kami Menolong Biskita" (Help
Us Help You).
The audience was told of the
repeated occurrences of illegible handwriting, incomplete and/or
incorrect addresses of recipients. These hamper the Postal Service's
efforts to deliver mail.
They were informed of the different
capabilities and limitations of the sorting machines used by the
government department.
This was done with a view to better
facilitate the function and prevent incidents of jamming and damage
to the sorters when handling mail.
The campaign, launched earlier this
month, aimed to inform on the correct way of addressing mail posted
to residences, commercial addresses in buildings and P.O. Boxes.
The guest of honour was Hj Azahari
Mohd Ali, Acting Post Master General, Postal Services Department,
Ministry of Communication's.
Briefings for the Tutong, Belait
and Temburong districts will take place on March 3, March 7 and
March 10 respectively. --
