Royal Audience To Pakistan General

Bandar Seri Begawan - His Majesty the Sultan of Brunei yesterday received in audience General Ehsan Ul Haq, Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, Pakistan.

The Chairman, Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee is in the country for a three-day official visit.

During the audience, General Ehsan Ul Haq was accompanied by Major (Rtd) Badr-ud-Deen, the Pakistan High Commissioner to Brunei.

Also in attendance were Pehin Datu Lailaraja Major General Dato Paduka Seri Hj Awg Halbi, the Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces; Pehin Dato Paduka Awg Hj Hazair, Permanent Secretary at the Prime Minister's Office; and, Pehin Datu Singamanteri Col (L) Dato Paduka Awg Hj Mohd Yasmin.

At a separate venue, Her Majesty Raja Isteri Pg Anak Hjh Saleha granted an audience to Mrs Begum Yasmin Ehsan, General Ehsan's wife.

Both audiences took place at Istana Nurul Iman.

His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah, Minister of Foreign Affairs, also granted an audience to General Ehsan Ul Haq at the Balai Penghadapan, Bukit Kayangan, where they discussed bilateral matters and regional and international affairs.

General Ehsan arrived in Brunei on Thursday as part of an introductory tour to several Asean countries following his appointment on October 8, 2004. -- Courtesy of Borneo Bulletin
