Book Fair To Encourage Reading
Culture In Brunei

Begawan – Cooperation among government agencies is needed to
encourage the reading culture and to make the residents more
knowledgeable.

Dato Dr Haji Awang Hussain, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports,
made the remarks while launching the Brunei Book fair 2005 yesterday.
The Minister expressed confidence
that reading materials such as books would always be relevant and
needed for important references in the nation's learning process
despite the existence of information and communication technology like
the internet.

Dato Dr Haji Awang Hussain also launched 30 books produced by the
Language and Literature Bureau.
Around 42 participants representing
local and regional book dealers took part in the ten-day book fair
held at the Indoor Stadium of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium
Sport Complex.
All proceeds from the sale of the
book will be donated to the Tsunami Disaster Humanitarian Fund.
The fair opens daily from 8.30am to
10 pm except on Friday during which it opens from 8.30am to 11.30am
and from 2.30pm to 10pm. --
